My name is Raiya, and I've been studying languages (specifically Korean and Mandarin) as a hobby since 2022.

I've never taken any official language course or formal study as I don't find the traditional classroom setting fun.

My study methods comprise using Anki for vocabulary, reading webtoons, watching and listening dramas, and sometimes with language apps like Lingodeer.

I love stories in whatever form, and that is how I have learned (and am still learning) Korean and Mandarin.

I was a full-time student when I started learning, and now I am a full-time employee, so my studying schedule is simple and flexible .

I am not a teacher, by the way. I am a fellow learner who happens to be a few steps ahead.

For Korean, I took the TOPIK II last year and was just 9 points short of reaching Level 4. For Mandarin, I haven't taken any official tests yet.

If I could go back to the start of 2022, this is what I would have shared with my younger self to make her language-learning journey easier and more effective.
